My thoughts on Microsoft Xbox E3 2012 Press Conference, Part 2

So here's part 2 of the Microsoft Press Conference for 2012, let's see what's what:

Marc Whitten, the Head of XBL comes out to minimal applause.  He begins speaking about Xbox SmartGlass, which will integrate the Xbox with Window, Mobile Phones, and Tablets to "immerse" oneself into whatever they are doing, be it playing games, watching sports, and watching television.  Sound pretty interesting since Symphony and I have Smart Devices ourselves.  After watching the connectivity for Halo 4 and the new Madden game I am stoked to see what developers will do with integrating our smart devices into the video game experience.  I can imagine playing a new Condemned game when the serial killer calls your actually phone to a recorded message in-game.  Freaky and cool.  Hopefully creators will get on board for super innovative ways to engage us.  Also Microsoft is bringing Explorer to your TV, which is pretty cool with the connectivity of smart devices.  There was nothing wrong about anything Marc said.  Fall is looking pretty sweet so far.

Up next is Tomb Raider live demo game play and I have to say it looks great.  The last Tomb Raider game I played I hated.  But just by the look of it I want to play it.

Tomb Raider (E3 Demo/game play footage)

Then next its a smattering of trailers.  Up first is Ascend: New Gods, which looks to be cool.  Next is a meager trailer for LocoCycle (there wasn't even game footage, at E3.  Boo.), finally it was a trailer called Matter, which had no game play footage either.  Second Boo.

Up next is Resident Evil 6.  I have a Love/Hate relationship with this series of games.  Some Resident Evil(s) I've liked, other I loathe.  This one looks good enough to play.

Up next is Alex Ruiz in with the Xbox Live team demoing Wreakateer that is coming exclusively to XBL.  Looks fun but not for this gamer.

Now it's the new game from the crazy team of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the next South Park game!  Behold!  South Park: The Stick of Truth

Surprise appearance by Matt and Trey, which was humorous.and I chuckled quite a few times.

Ugh.  Next up is Harmonix's Dance Central 3, which as much of a Rock Band game lover, I just can't do Dance Central.  I'm White and Irish, I'm totally screwed with doing the sweet dance moves, but I can rock on a plastic guitar into the 2% range.  But the announcement isn't the horrible thing it's the performance by Usher doing his new moves.  The crowd was dead and it was a bad play in Marketing for this year.  Give us some Rock Band news, Harmonix!  But I guess I'm biased.  Some people will love the game and that is great, but it's not for me.

Don Mattrick hits the stage again for the wrap up and some footage of the new game, Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

And that does it for this year's Microsoft E3 Press Conference.  I give the Kids at Xbox an A this year.  Strong showing with all the games, the connectivity between Smart Devices and Xbox SmartGlass, the expanded ESPN with NHL (and other sports), and of course Halo 4, CoD: Black Ops II, and Splinter Cell: Blacklist look great.  The only reason this show this year didn't get an A+ was due to the Usher/Dance Central 3 fiasco.

Thanks for reading this long diatribe.  Did you like Microsoft's E3 Press Conference?  Hate it?  Let me know what you think in the comments below!
