So I originally planned to post my thoughts on the Rock Band Blitz then-announced songs on Friday as well as my usual posts on Monday, Tuesday, and today (do I post today, well, I am now!), but life happened, and shortly after posting This Week in Rock Band I found out my mom (who is approaching her 70th Birthday this year! Congrats!) had suffered a heart attack. I was in totally shock and still am. I was told it was bad. The doctors tried to put a stent in her heart but then found out there was a ton of blockage and they were going to have to perform a triple bypass. Friday was a really rough day. She went in for surgery later that day (I think) and the surgery went well. She woke up and was alert and responsive, which from what I understand is really good after a surgery of that magnitude. It took them a few days to calm her down enough to remove the ventilator, which they did and now she doing a lot better. She'll be in the hospital for the next few weeks for recovery (which might land on her birthday this year) but I'm so grateful that she is on the long road to recovery. I still haven't been able to talk to her and it's driving me insane.
It'll be a while until she reads this, I"m going to tell her that she now has two things in common with me, she's had open heart surgery and been incubated (ventilator). I'm sure she'll find it humorous. Whew. This has been a heavy last few days, where at points the minutes seemed like hours and I felt pretty helpless because she's all the way across the country and I have no way of seeing her, though, to be honest I would have been a nervous Nellie. I'm just calling it like I sees it.
If you are fortunate enough to still have your mom (and like her) give her a hug and tell her you love her. Or at least call. You never know just how long you have with your loved ones. Time is fleeting and there are no second chances. Make every moment count.
I love you Mom!
