This RAW only PPV is coming to the WWE Network this Sunday, April 30th. So far there are eight matches announced, and that's including the Pre-Show Kickoff Match, which I am about to get into.
Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs Luke Gallows & Carl Anderson - I'll be honest, I'm sad to see that Enzo and Cass haven't won the Tag Titles yet. They were red hot a year and a half ago, and I hate to say it, but that fire for them from the WWE Universe has waned a little. Would love to see them get the RAW Tag Team gold. As for Gallows and Anderson, well, nothing bad to say about them, but I am surprised they haven't been regulated to Main Event or let go. It would make more sense to have them team with Styles now, I thought there was nothing wrong with the Bullet Club. It made sense. Okay enough babbling. Who do I think is going to win the Kickoff Match? I'd like to think this.
Winners: Big Cass & Enzo Amore
SPOILER: Hey I was right here, they won the match. One for one so far. Moving on.
Now it's time to get to the meat and potatoes portion of the show. Here's my thoughts on the main card in no particular order.
Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe - Another match on the heels of Wrestlemania that is the ongoing chapter in Rollins "comeback" storyline. Rollins wants to fight everyone to prove that's he's the best and work his way back up to main event status. The slow burn as they call it. At least I hope that is what they do. Samoa Joe is the unstoppable machine. In a perfect world I'd expect a Rollins win here, but Samoa Joe has something to prove so I think it's going to go this way.
Winner: Samoa Joe
SPOILER: Completely wrong on this one folks! Seth Rollins wins with a roll-up! Crazy I say!
WWE RAW Woman's Champion Bayley vs Alexa Bliss - Bailey retained at Wrestlemania, she's proven the odds against her. I can't see this match going any other way but this. I mean Alexa's crafty so might pull out the upset win here in San Jose, but come on, WWE really wouldn't take the belt away from Bailey in her hometown right after Wrestlemania? Would they? Nah. I am going with the gut on this one.
Winner: and STILL RAW Woman's Champion, Bailey!
SPOILER: I can't believe it! Bliss is the new Raw Woman's Champion. Bailey got robbed!
WWE Champion Neville vs Austin Aries - Aries gets another chance at the gold and to show who the best is on 205 Live. Will Neville show this brash young upstart the lay of his kingdom and prove that he is the King of the Cruiserweights or will Aries dethrone the King and take the Cruiserweight Championship to the Double A level? This one is a toss-up. The odds aren't in my favor here, and I think this match will air on the Pre-Show as well, but I am going with the long shot on this one.
Winner: and NEW Cruiserweight Champion, Austin Aries!
SPOILER: Nope. Neville retains after putting his hands on the ref and getting a DQ. Boo.
Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman - This match will be interesting. They've (WWE) have booked Strowman as the Terminator, he's beat everyone, well everyone except Reigns that one time, oh and that time this last week on RAW when Kalisto beat Stowman in that Dumpster Match. (Ug.) As much as I want Strowman to win, I can't help but seeing WWE giving the win to Reigns. It's just what I think is going to happen.
Winner: Roman Reigns
SPOILER: This was the main event (the last match) of the night. Totally surprised to say Roman lose this one, and boy, was the San Jose crowd brutal. Oh by the by, Braun wins this one.
RAW Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz vs Cesero & Sheamus - With the Hardy Boyz back in the WWE. As a fan I am excited, this guys did (and still do!) crazy stuff in the ring (and outside it, usually with ladders!) and to be able to see that again is awesome. Cesero and Sheamus have been playing the respect team vs team storyline, but I think we will see that Cesero and Sheamus with do anything necessary to win the belts.
Winner: the NEW RAW Tag Teams Championns, Cesero and Sheamus!
SPOILER: Terrible prediction once again. The Hardy Boyz retain the belts, but Cesero and Sheamus gave them a vicious beat down after the match was over. Cesero and Sheamus have turned Heel. Huzzah!
WWE United States Champion Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho - It's the best friend/bitter enemies story smacking us all in the face, and you know what, I'm fine with that. These two are money all day long, and to have them tearing into each other, for the US title, it's just pure gold. If Chris Jericho wins he will end up on Smackdown LIVE with the title, which makes me wonder who will getting drafted to RAW? I smell another story line brewing! Right, back to the match at hand. I can only seeing it gong down like this.
Winner: and STILL United States Champion, Kevin Owens!
SPOILER: Another terrible prediction! Chris Jericho wins! What?!?
Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt in a House of Horrors Match - A first ever of it's kind! I think. I know I said in "no particular order" earlier in this blog post, but, this match should end the show. What's it going to be? Who knows! I know I will be tuning in this Sunday on the WWE Network to find out. Since the title isn't on the line (I think Jinder Mahal is the next in line for a WWE World Championship shot. Who do I think is going to win this one? Easy.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
SPOILER: This match. Ugh. Terrible. Bray did win so at least I got that right.
Alright keep back on this post on Monday morning and see how well I predicted this PPV and the results as well.
Stay tuned.
My overall thoughts on the 2017 Payback PPV. It wasn't great, but, it wasn't terrible either. The House of Horrors match was really, really bad. The match that stole the show was a tie between Samoa Joe/Rollins and Neville/Aries. Everything else was meh.
Okay that's all folks, stay tuned as I write up a quick Movie Ticket Monday (coming up soon!)
