Comics Arriving

Well let's see what's coming out this week.

Bride of Frankenstein Model Kit

How freakin' awesome is that!  It's awesome.  It's only 50 clams retail (US), which for that much of a model is I guess about right.  I love the old classic Universal Monsters from back in the day, you know, when Hollywood still had original ideas.  Now if only they'd put out a 2 piece Creature of the Black Lagoon, with the Creature and a buxom beauty.

Classic Swamp Thing By Wrightson t-shirt

OMFG!  Me need NOW!  This. Is. Awesome!  That is all.

Neil Gaiman and Philosophy SC

Symph would probably love this, and that is why I included it.

Shock Value How Outsiders Invented Modern Horror SC

Shock Value?  More like an awesome value!  Also an interesting look into the horror genre in a different way then most books do it.  Will totally have to check this out.  Nice.

Well not a ton of comics that I want (none this week actually), but a ton of other awesome stuff for this week in Comics Arriving.  What do you think?  Sound off!

DVD/Video Game Tuesdays

Oh man, I can't wait to see The Goon!  Hockey and Seaan Williams Scott, sold!

I'm hoping it's going to be as brutal as the movie Slapshot.  Those "three brothers" were awesome!  Let's see what else is going on.

WWE Extreme Rules 2012

Not to shabby so far.  I really want to see this one because of the Lesner/Cena fight and anything with D. Bryan, he's pretty awesome!

A Trip to the Moon/The Extraordinary Voyage

Can't wait to see this as I've only seen clips and snipets from this film.  The special effects were pretty bad ass for their time.  Just watched a film or documentary about the man who made the film so it's really on my radar.

So that looks like it for the films, let's see what (if anything) is coming out in the video game department.

Sega Vintage Collection: Golden Axe

Didn't Sega already release this on XBL?  What the hell?  That pisses me off.  I won't buy anymore Arcade games from SEGA.  If that is the reason why some games got pulled off of XBL, just so the company can re-release it down the line.  Sickening.  So doing a bit of research it's actually more than one game, so I guess they're off the hook... for now.

Not much else coming out this week with the exception of the new Batman: Arkham City DLC.  I don't own the new (or old) Batman game but if I did I'd probably be playing it right now.

Anything coming out that you can't live without?  Post in the comment section below!

Movie Ticket Monday: Monsters Inc.

Saw this bad boy at the Modesto 18 theaters.  Great little flick that only Disney/Pixar can do.  I actually own this one on DVD.  It's a neat little take on the monsters in your closet scenario that I found refreshing.  Billy Crystal and John Goodman do a great duo team together as the lead monsters, respectively, the characters Mike and "Sulley".  Fun for all ages as I recall there being a ton of kids in the theater that day.

If you've never seen this give it a shot.  To wet the appetite he's some delicious trailer:

Did you see the flick?  Did you love it?  Hate it?  I'd love to hear what other people thought about this film.

3 bands that need to be in Rock Band!

Just like the title implies, I think (personally preference, not based with any factual information) that these three bands NEED to be in Rock Band.

Twisted Sister

Dee and the boys need to be sorely represented in Rock Band.  If Rock Band did put them in the game it should be a three pack as is what they've been doing since the beginning of 2012.

Twisted Sister Pack 01

 I Wanna Rock
Stay Hungry
The Kids are Back

Frank Zappa

Now I would normally put Weird Al up here, but TAG (The Authority Group, RBN) released a forum post about trying to get Weird Al into the game, as well as some other bands.  If you want to check that out here ya go: TAG Forum post But if I could have a three pack here would be the three songs from Zappa, it would be these.

Frank Zappa Pack 01

Joe's Garage
Bobby Brown (Goes Down)
Son of Suzy Creamcheese

Fields of the Nephilim

Love this band.  Totally guilty pleasure to have them in the game.

Fields of the Nephilim Pack 01

Preacher Man
Celebrate
Straight to the Light

Not everyone's cup of tea, but I think alot of people would find them intriguing.

If you could have any three bands in Rock Band, what would they be?

Be back in a bit with Movie Ticket Monday and a well needed Music Monday blog post...

Let's Go Out to the Movies!

Chernobyl Diaries

I don't think it's going to win any Oscars or anything, but it looks like a fun little romp.  At least the trailer looked bad ass, but let's all be honest, trailers lie.  Not just a little bit or once or twice, but all the time.

If you are a horror fan you'd probably dig it.  If horror's not your bag it's best to avoid entirely.

Men in Black 3

If you remember the first Men in Black film, congrats, you're old.  Ha!  Just kidding.  I liked the first one a lot.  The second film not so much.  But if you've been waiting for the next film then wait no further because it was just released.  I'll wait until I can get it on Netflix.

Well not a big week for movies, but I'm looking forward to a few that are coming out later that I've seen the trailers (those lying bastards) for.

What films are coming out that interest you?  Sound off!

This Week in Rock Band

Well another week and a pass for me.  You might like it, so check it out!

Bullet for My Valentine Pack 01

Bullet for My Valentine - "Tears Don't Fall"
Bullet for My Valentine - "Scream Aim Fire"
Bullet for My Valentine - "Your Betrayal" (X)

(X denotes PRO Guitar/Bass Upgrade)

Haven't really heard this band but I'll check em' out on Spotify.  I'm kinda glad it is not something I want as I can save up some cash for Rock Band Blitz and what other songs come out that I want between now and then.

So here's what came out on the RBN this week:

Alternative

Lee-Leet - "So High"

Punk

Straight Outta Junior High - "Dudes and Guys and Things and Stuff"

Not a ton of stuff out for the RBN, which is weird, usually there's a ton of metal that comes out every week.

See you all in a bit with Let's Go Out to the Movies!

Wild Rock Band Blitz/Iron Maiden Epics 02 Speculation!

From what I think I understand another Iron Maiden track will make it's way into Rock Band Blitz and RB3.  This is my best prediction, I think it's going to be Wrathchild from their 2nd studio album, Killers.  It's the only album they haven't released any tracks from on the Rock Band platform, though I guess that might be due to licensing issues, I don't know.

I would love to see Murders from the Rue Morgue,  I guess that can be Maiden Epics 02, and since it's all Maiden up in here.  Here's some wild speculation of what Maiden Epics 02 would be (this is based on absolutely nothing)

Maiden Epics 02
Murders in the Rue Morgue
Remember Tomorrow(X)
Quest for Fire (X)
Heaven Can Wait
Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter
Be Quick or Be Dead

That would be a sweet pack I would gladly pay ten clams for.  I'm thinking since Maiden literally just showed up two days ago with Maiden Epics 01 pack we won't see a big pack of Maiden until 2014 at the earliest, but man that would be awesome.  I'm looking at you Harmonix.  I am sure someone is reading this blog from the fine folks in Boston who make this game that I absolutely dig.  I've said it a million times before, I'll say it again the game has opened me up to a ton of bands I would have never heard and they've also put in songs from bands I thought would never be in Rock Band (The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets song and the Drive By Truckers songs, respectively.

Well there's my wild speculation based on the fact I think there's a Maiden track coming to Blitz (Wrathchild) and my far in the future predication of another Maiden Epics pack based on my own personal preferences.

Do you think those tracks are cherry?  Would you want other tracks for the eventual Maiden Epics 02 pack?  Either way, UP THE IRONS!

Sour out!

Comics Arriving

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 Library Edition Vol. 1

Love me some Buffy and the fact that the comics take up after the show is a nice perk.  Ah, sweet continuity.  If you've never seen the TV show give it a once over then check out the comics and then Vol. 1 Edition gets ya right in the thick of it.

Marvel Zombies Destroy # 2

Howard the Duck fighting Nazi Zombies?  Sold!

Clive Barker's Hellraiser Vol. 2 Tim Bradstreet Virgin Cover

What?  Tim Bradstreet doing a Hellraiser cover.  Nice.   I want this comic just for the cover.  What am I, five?  Sweet.

Caligua Vol. 1 HC Signed Edition

A comic about Caligua?  Color me impressed.  Disturbing, I'm sure.  Intrigued I am.

Make-Up Artist Magazine #96

Wow.  I didn't know they will still making this.  Great mag for an awesome industry.

MAD Spy vs. Spy 2 Pack Vinyl Figure

Symph would love this!

Well that is it for the Comics Arriving.  Hope you enjoyed it.  Looking forward to any of this?  Hate comics, toys, and magazines?  Sound off.

DVD/Video Game Tuesdays

Well let's see what's coming out on DVD that I can't live without, or at least watch...

I think this is D. Rad's first film since the Potter series and I really want to see what else he can do.  Did he do great in the Potter series?  Yes.  Hopefully this film is scary, I'll have to check it out from Netflix.

This looked interesting.  I think it's Studio Ghibli film so I know it's going to be pretty.  Symph wants to see it too...

Love me some Warships.  Def will see this!

Well, so some good ol' GG.  If you've never seen GG, well, be prepared and here's your warning:  Not for the faint of heart and if you have a problem with drunkenness, nudity, shit-flinging, masturbation, then maybe this film might not be for you...

Well there ya have it folks, let's see what is happening with the video games...

I loved the earlier games on the original Xbox.  I really want to try this bad boy out and the fact that the Kinect figures into the game play is pretty cool.  It's not that I don't have a few shooters already, I do, I just want to give this long overdue franchise a shot again.  Good times.

Well that's all folks!  Excited about what is coming out this week for video games and DVD releases?  Looking at other things not on the list?  Sound off below!

Movie Ticket Monday: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

I was so excited to see this film.  It didn't disappoint.  Thank you Peter Jackson.  Thank you Cast and Crew.  Thank you WETA.  Epic, beautiful, awesome fight scenes.  This film had it all.  Saw it Dec. 19th at the Modesto 18, in, you guessed it Modesto (two flushes, Jenn).  I am pretty sure I saw this film with Elizabeth and a ton of other people.  I also think I saw this film twice in the theater, which I haven't done too many times in my life, and as a matter of fact it was the first film I saw twice in the theater ever.  Go me.  If you haven't seen this.  I mean come on.  You have.  It was great, wasn't it?  Yes.  Yes it was.  Here's the trailer for nostalgic purposes:

This film has also had so many memorable quotes.  With the most famous one for the degenerate group of friends that I hung with (and we were all in film at the time at the JC so you know, we were crazy about it):

Did you love Lord of the Rings: FotR?  Did you prefer the classic animated Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings better?  What you haven't seen it!  Here's almost 10 minute preview:

You can see the other parts of the animated classic on YouTube if you wish.  Unlike the X-Men films I didn't run out and buy all the action figures.  I did get the LotR: FotR Director's cut 4 disc special edition (w/o the statue) and it was awesome!  I probably watch this one more than the other two so it's all good.

Hope you enjoyed this edition of Movie Ticket Monday.  Sour Out!

Let's Go Out to the Movies!

Man, I just found out this is coming out today, I don't think it'll be anywhere near me but I really, really want to see this film.

Beyond the Black Rainbow (2012)

Wow.  This seems like a good movie week for me, since there is this little gem coming out too.

Lovely Molly (2012)

Well that looks about it for me for this week in the movie department.  Are you excited for these films?  Want to see something else?  Sound off below!

This Week in Rock Band

Woohoo!  I thought it wasn't going to be until later this year when we'd get more of this awesome band.   I was wrong, and I am glad I was wrong.

Maiden Epics Pack

Iron Maiden - "Phantom of the Opera"
Iron Maiden - "The Prisoner"
Iron Maiden - "The Flight of Icarus" (X)
Iron Maiden - "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" (X)
Iron Maiden - "Infinite Dreams" (O)
Iron Maiden -  Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (O)

(X denotes PRO Guitar/Bass Upgrade, O denotes Keyboard)

Price: 800 Microsoft Points/$10.00 US Clams.  Buy em' all and get a song for free!  Yummy.

What a great week for Metalheads!  I know I'll be picking up this pack next Tuesday.  Totally stoked to play every song in this pack.

Not much on the RBN was released this week, if you would direct you peeps this way:

RBN Tracks (look at bottom of page)

Well that will do it for this Week in Rock Band!  Stay tuned in a bit for Let's Go Out to the Movies later today!

Comics Arriving

New entry for hump day!  I love comics, that is no surprise to most I'm sure.  So here's a weekly column about comics that I would be interested to see.  Now I used to be a avid comic collector spending (probably) hundreds dollars, but that was many, many moons ago.  Now I collect 2 comics each month, both DC, Justice League Dark and Swamp Thing, respectively.  This blog entry is not about those comics but the ones that might be cool to read... so here goes.

5/16/2012

DC Comics

Justice League #9
Comics that kill characters ride a fine line.  If the company brings the character back to soon as with some titles have done then it really infuriates me.  As said in Pet Cemetery, "Dead is dead."  If I ever wrote a comic and I killed a character that character would NOT come back.  End of story.

Let's see what else we got coming out.

Hellblazer #291

Wow.  This comic has been going for awhile now.  So far everything I've read of Hellblazer has been great.  I was first introduce to John Constantine in the page of the 2nd series of Swamp Thing.  He's had some great cameos in various DC titles which is great.  He's the douche you love to hate.  Brilliant.

Well that was brief.  Check it out next week, here and live on my blog!

Belated DVD/Video Game Tuesday

Well nothing that I can live without on DVD.  Let's take a look at the video game side of things for the Xbox 360 this week:

Yes!  Yes!  Yes!  This is a good week for games for the Xbox 360 IMO.  First up:

Loved the first one on the original on the Xbox, hell that game was sliced bread.  Innovative.  Dark.  Cthulhu is mentioned.  Even a aggravating dream sequence or two that was utterly and positively disturbing still to this day.  I hate to say it but I never played the second game at all so I can't really comment on that one.  But I am sure this game is going to be pretty sweet.  It also has bullet time which is never a bad thing, it'll be interesting to see if they revisit anything from the previous 2 stories.  I haven't really looked into previews for this game at all, but I'm sure in Rockstar's capable hands it'll be something really special.

Well, well, well.  The game I love to loathe.  Make no mistake this was the first arcade cabinet video game I played in the all but forgotten brick and mortar Arcades when I was six years old.  The game costs fifty cents and that was back in 1982, big money, big prizes.  I put a lot of money into that game.  I loved the actual cartoon nature of the game and I found the "brave knight adventure to save the princess from the clutches of an evil dragon" was awesome.  About ten or so years ago I purchased the game that used my DVD remote to play.  I beat the game in thirty minutes.  Some of the magic was gone, but I still have a place in my heart for this great game.  Even my avatar is supporting a Dragon's Lair t-shirt.  Dragon's Lair Avatar T-Shirt Yeah, I'm a nerd.

Well that looks like it for this week.  Are you looking forward to these games?  Is something better coming out?  Sound off below.

Movie Ticket Monday: Double Feature!

Totally forgot to post this last week!

First up is this little gem, Jeepers Creepers!  Sept 2, 2001.  Actually not that great of a film though at least it was something a little different that was brought to the table.  I don't think I watched the second film until it was on Netflix instant streaming and man it was... uh.  I can't even remember who I saw this film with (sorry about that).

Jeepers Creepers Trailer

Cool!  The next film was the now classic Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  Watched it on Thanksgiving 2001.  It's funny now since I (finally) am reading the books, I am going to go back and watch the films all over again and I need to watch the first film.  It should be interesting to see the differences between the books and the films.  I am sure I watched this with Elizabeth and probably a few other friends at the Riverbank 12 Cinemas in, you guessed it, in Riverbank, California.  Had a great time that day.  I am sure that if anybody that reads my blog they have seen the first Harry Potter film, but just in case you haven't seen it, here's the trailer to wet your appetite:

Let's see what is happening in the world of DVD and Video Game releases this week!  Onto the next blog entry.

Let's Go Out to the Movies!

The Road (2012) Trailer  This could be promising.  I probably won't see it in a theater but I will definitely see it when it comes out to Netflix.

Well that was short. So I'm going go out on a limb and suggest a rental.  If you've never seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, stop reading my blog and drive to the nearest large chain retailer or internet mega center and plunk down your hard earned cash and buy, buy, buy this.  Right now.  I'll wait...

Okay.  Glad you're back.  Did you enjoy this film?  I know I did.  I spent an entire summer watching it every day with some very good friends.  It's a magical film and sweet Jesus it's super quotable, at least in my universe.  I think I might watch it pretty soon it's been about a month or so since I've seen it last.  Or I'll watch it now.

Here's some quotes to wet your appetite:

Raoul Duke: Those of us that had been up all night were in no mood for coffee and donuts, we wanted strong drink. We were, after all, the absolute cream of the national sporting press.

Raoul Duke: Who are these people? These faces? Where did they come from? They look like caricatures of used car dealers from Dallas, and sweet Jesus, there are a hell of a lot of them at 4:30 on a Sunday morning. Still humping the American dream.

There you go, enjoy those bad boys, quote em', learn em', love em'.

I really do love this movie.  Go see it and tell me what you think.  Post your comments below.

This Week in Rock Band

Well it's not Metallica or Maiden.  This is what is what coming out next week for Rock Band:

Paramore Pack 01

Paramore - "Ignorance" (O)
Paramore - "Brick by Boring Brick" (O)
Parmaore - "The Only Exception" (O)(X)

(O supports Keyboard, X denotes PRO Guitar/Bass Upgrade)

Not my cup of tea, but I'll give em' a listen, who knows maybe I'll grab a track if I dig it.  I'm excited to see what is going to be announced next Friday (May 18).

There was only (I think) 5 RBN tracks that came out this week:

RBN tracks for the week of 5/4 to 5/11:

Metal

ETHS - "Gravis Venter"
Skylliton - "Crabplosion"

Prog

An Endless Sporadic - "Impulse"
Nod 206 - "En Donde Duermen Los Suenos"

Rock

Sonic Boom Six - "For the Kids of the Multiculture"

Nothing on the RBN is screaming to me, but I'll give em' a listen as well on Spotify and see if there is anything that cries out to me for purchase.

Well there you have it.  A joyous week for some on Rock Band, but not this Rawker!  Still have Let's Go Out to the Movies post I still need to get out there as well as a V-blog!  See you in a few.

Belated DVD/Video Game Tuesday

Well, this looks promising.  Taker vs. HHH, Cena vs. Rock and a ton more.  I'd love to own ever DVD WWE made but really just having the WrestleMania discs would be stellar.  Be on the lookout for this bad boy!  Let's see what else is up for this week.

It's about damn time!  I've been waiting forever for them to release The Looney Tunes Show.  Totally a day one purchase for me.  Bout time Warner Bros!

Well that is all for this week for the DVD releases that are coming out.  Stay tuned for more blogging goodness from me in a bit.  Nothing coming out this week in the games department so I'll be moving on to This Week in Rock Band.

Life: Birthday Week

Well, I've been a bad boy.  Missed a whole week of posts.  Give me a break because Monday was my birthday and it was rough.  A friend's pet passed away that day and kind of threw the day into chaos.  Anjun-san was a good cat and a cutie.  You will be missed big man! Hugs to MGX and Angel whom owned the great Anjun.  The week improved over the next few days.  I grabbed a Kinect for the Xbox 360 and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 to try and get into shape.  It's pretty insane and I've sweated and burned calories like a mad mofo.  It's pretty sweet.  I got to drink cheap beer and eat all kinds of yummy food this week so that is pretty sweet to, now if Harmonix put some Metallica or Maiden on the DLC slate for this next week it would have awesome, but alas we got nothing near that...

I'll be posting This Week in Rock Band in a few.  Stay tuned.

Friday, May 4, 2012

Let's Go Out to the Movies!

I have to say that this week is a week to go to the movies, if only for this film:

Marvel's been building this film for a few years now and man, they are going to have to deliver big time.  Joss is on it, so I have faith, also if the overseas numbers are any indication this film is going to do very, very well.

I didn't see Captain America or Thor last year because I was so soured (HA!) by Wolverine: Origins and the lackluster Iron Man 2 that I skipped watching Cap and Thor until this year, and those were actually pretty decent.

Can't wait to go see this this coming week.  Okay, fandom over... let's see if there is anything else besides The Avengers...  Nope.  That is all.  Enjoy your weekend folks!  I know I will!

Sour out!

Belated DVD/Video Game Tuesdays

So not much on the DVD front, except this awesome show...

Just watched, then re-watched this show.  Funny stuff, and much like Aqua Teen Hunger Force I didn't quite get it the first time I watched it, but then I came around and now it's super.

And with that, now onto the video games...

... well, that was fast, a big fat nothing coming out for me, now mind you, I play only on the Xbox 360, I don't really play on anything else right now, but, if that ever chances Dear Readers, you will be the first to know here...

Hmm, well that does it for this belated DVD/Video Game Tuesday... be back in a bit with Let's Go Out to the Movies in a few... Stay tuned!

This Week in Rock Band

Well, another week, another (probably) no purchase for me.  I'm glad that some bands that have been represented already are getting more packs.  It's a good thing and what I thought that 2012 will be for DLC, you know, more packs from bands and (obviously) new bands being represented.  Good stuff.  What?  You wanna know what's coming out, well, look no further!

Rage Against the Machine Pack 01

Rage Against the Machine - "Bombtrack" X
Rage Against the Machine - "Killing in the Name"
Rage Against the Machine - "Sleep Now in the Fire"

(X Denotes PRO Guitar/Bass Upgrade)

There's a mess o' tracks that came out over the past week.  To many to mention actually, direct your peppers this way:

RBN DLC Goodness

Well there you have it.  Are you going to enjoy the Rage tracks coming out next Tuesday?  Do you care less about this band?  Love it?  Sound off below!

I'll be back in a bit with some entries I skipped over this week.
