Movie Ticket Monday: Detroit Rock City

I like KISS.  I like movies.  It's not KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park so it's get high marks already.  I saw this at the Modesto 18 on August 13, 1999.  I don't remember who I saw this with, I want to say it was either Clayton or Loyd (if someone knows, let me know and I'll update this post.

Great, fun film.  Stoner humor at it's best.  Did I mention KISS.  Yes, yes, I did.

Are you a member of the KISS Army?  Can't stand KISS and think it's butt-rock?  Sound off below!

Music Monday: Ayumi Hamasaki

Great J-Pop singer, from what I understand she was the top star in the 90's.

Wikipedia's page on AyumiHamasaki

I was looking for music for the opening credits of a film I wrote.  It took place in Japan in the 90's so I thought that would fit the bill.  I fell in love with her music and found a few "singles"' at Uwajimaya for about fifteen bucks a piece.  I think she would also make a great addition to the Rock Band library that is lacking J-Pop.

Happy Halloween 2011!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everybody!  I'm starting the day off right with a horror film.  It probably won't be great but it's a start!  The rest of the day involves work, cleaning, and more horror movies.  I love me some Halloween.

Maybe I'll read a scary story tonight to Symphony or something, she'd probably like that.  Keep all your animals safe tonight since people are weird during this time of year.  Jerks.  Have fun out there, be safe, and watch out for all the monsters!  Unless you are a monster, then EAT MORE HUMANS!

Life: Short Blurb #10

So tired.  Got to sleep around 3AM and was back up at 7:30AM.  Yum, four hours of sleep, delicious.  I think today will be a little R & R after the festivities from last night.  Bit of a hangover but damn that drink was strong!  I am such a lightweight (chuckles).

I am almost finished with my Norwegian Death Metal book, Lords of Chaos, and then it's off to a comprehensive book on Noam Chomsky and still there's a stack of Asimov as well.  Crap, I need to read more.  It's like the dying art of letter writing, I mean, besides us "old" people, who reads books anymore?  I fear in twenty years physical books will be a thing of the past.  We live in some strange times, indeed.

Do you read books?  Are you a electronic junkie and have forsaken physical copies in favor of tablet devices?  I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

Theater: Rocky Horror Picture Show

I just got back from my first (yes, I know) viewing of a LIVE RHPS on our side of the water.  The crowd was as hot as a San Jose live WWE event from 2002.  Good times for sure.  It was interesting to see they had a actress playing Rocky, but I guess Symphony tells me that that is not so uncommon as I think.

I thought the cast did a pretty good job of hitting all the right hand and body motions in sync with the film on a screen behind everyone on the stage.  Next time I'll bring a bag of goodies and contribute more.  I am sure that my wife is super excited to read these words.

Haven't had this great of a time at the theater since watching a college version of Tommy somewhere in San Mateo.  Maybe I should look into other plays and whatnot, as once again my wife will be stoked to see these words, Dear Readers.

Has anyone else see a live version of Rocky Horror Picture Show?  Love it?  Hate it? Where did you see it at and was the performance up to snuff?

Re: Toddler Beauty Pagents

Well this blog is for my friend Morgan who asked me to talk about toddler beauty pagents.  So, Morgan and my Dear Readers, let's kick it.

I will be the first to tell everybody that I don't have children.  Never really wanted them, hell I can barely take care of myself.  I don't profess to know to much about the inner workings of parent/child/pageantry, but I just finished the pilot episode of Toddlers and Tiaras, so according to today's nanosecond demanding society and pop culture "reality programming" we all can have P.h.D.'s in TVology.  Delicious.

I guess if the child wants to do pageantry then the parents should let their children follow their dreams.  But if the parents are obsessed with it, then it will probably end badly or have repercussions later in that child's life.

Do you have a child in beauty pageants?  Agree?  Disagree?  Discuss below.

Film: New in Theaters this week

So let's see what is coming out this week.

Well.  Crap, just one film this week.  The Rum Diaries.  The follow up film to Fear and Loathing, or prequel or whatever.  Doesn't look as intense as Fear and Loathing but I think it will still be pretty good.  Not much else in the pipe this week for films.  Well, maybe next Friday...

Film: Now it's Time for Change!

So I've grown up a bit.  No more do Troma films make me excited to watch with innocent bystanders.  No more do I torture people I hardly know with GG Allin's Hatred VHS viewing.  No more do I say stuff that will shock the crap out of people.  Yep, growing up a bit I must say.  Just called me Nilla' Puddin'.  Ha.  I made a funny.

Well now if you'll excuse me I have to go jump on the bed and eat ice cream out of the gallon with a spoon.  *Raspberry*

Re: HR 875 IH

So my cousin, Sara, asked me to talk about HR 875 IH, which is the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009.  Really Sara?  Actually I read your most recent FB post, and if you look at my FB page you'll see that I don't work in AG anymore since last month.

Food safety is totally important.  I don't want jacked up cantaloupe as I am sure no one else does.    Or pissed on asparagus either or any food borne illness, that is all just bad news.

Life: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

I recently cut my hair after two years.  It was well over ten inches (insert sick joke here).  I plan on donating my hair to Locks of Love.  Still need to get on that.  I am now being stylish with the "Ceaser" haircut, which I actually really like.  It has been so long since I've had short hair I have had to remember to use less shampoo and conditioner.  Go figure.  Now that my hair is so short I think I'll keep it this way for a few years.  I will post some pics later today.

See you in a bit.

Work: Holy Shit!

So I have to look over these old URL's on a website.  We have found a program that is going to make that a lot easier, though it looks like I am going to be scouring over 15000 link pages or more.  Wow. That is a lot.  Hooray for being gainfully employed!  I guess I am part of the 53% out of 99%, damn the math.  We all bleed red.

Stay tuned.

Life: Short Blurb #9

Getting ready to go through a ton of work.  Super excited.  Should take me a bit since I'm going through about ten years of URL's.  Hooray for a productive monkey.  Will blog a bit later today about something!  Stay tuned, Dear Readers!  Zing!  Pow!  Also still waiting on good news today!  Woo!

Video Game Tuesdays

Well this week will be short and sweet.  There is really nothing that is calling to me.  So I'll pimp out a ancient X-box game that I am going to be playing in the next few days again in celebration of Halloween.  It's a little known gem entitled Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.  It's scary, demented as hell, and an utter delight.  It is also the only horror-themed game that has made me scream out loud and raise the Duke in protection.

Here is the original website to delight your senses.  Well, no, that website doesn't exist anymore.  You can probably secure a copy through eBay or maybe Amazon.  Good luck with that.  All and all a great game.

Video Games: Rock Band Tuesdays

So second week in a row.  Here goes with the Xbox 360 releases this week in the Rock Band library:

I Believe in a Thing Called Love - The Darkness X
Living Dead Girl - Rob Zombie
Thunder Kiss '65 - White Zombie
Super-Charged Heaven - White Zombie X

(X denotes PRO GUITAR/BASS upgrades)

Well... Living Dead Girl and Thunder Kiss '65 are a must.  I've been waiting for Thunder Kiss '65 since the first game came out.  I listened to the Darkness song and while funny was not for me, but I am sure people are going to dig on it.  I've sure I've heard Super-Charged Heaven but it'll be a pass for now.  Good stuff.  Looking forward to the eventual large track releases/full albums that should be coming down the pipeline.  Crossing fingers for Pink Floyd.  Just kidding.

DVD Tuesdays

As always I pull my list from this awesome site that I've been frequenting for about ten years now.

The Digital Bits

Let's see what we have today kiddies!

Robot Chicken: Season Five
Captain America

Well not much.  Captain America is coming this week in the mail so I will throw a review up here later in the week.  Funny enough, I didn't see any superhero films this year in the theaters which is totally unlike me.  I've been hitting comic films in years previously like ginger on beer.  So I am just getting back to my roots of comic and movies are like church and state.  Grumble.

I still need Season 2 of Robot Chicken and I'm pretty sure I still need to view Season 4, man, I'm slacked in my duties.

Stay tuned... still waiting on good news...

Location! Location! Location! Pike Place Market

I thought I would blog about locations, either places I have been or places I want to go.

My first location is Pike's Place Market

Pike Place Market Market History

I love this place.  All the food, a great 2nd hand bookstore BLMF.  Golden Age.  the cash only Daily Dozen Donuts.  All good things.  I do hate the crowds though.  I guess that is part of going native.  If you get a chance to hit up Seattle do yourself a favor and go (even though I'll be cursing under my breath that you are moving to slow and gawking in the middle of the aisle) and have fun.  For God's sake have fun.

Movie Ticket Monday: The Blair Witch Project

July 30, 1999.  Modesto 18.  The movie that started a campaign a year before on the internet as a marketing ploy.  Brilliant.  The movie, well not so much.

I went and saw it with my neighbor Leah.  I thought it was pretty good for an independent film on a budget of 600,000.  The film grossed something like 8 Million.  Pretty good numbers.  After reflecting on the Blair Witch now doesn't hold up, but sweet Jesus, every Argento, Fulci, and Bava out there since this film came out grabbed a GL-1 and shoot a fucking scream fright fest every 3 seconds.  Statistics taken from my ass.  Like every other percentile report out there.  Take that!  Be back in a bit with some more blogging goodness.

Music Monday: Drive By Truckers

A great alt-country band.  Interestingly enough I found them looking for GG Allin on Napster (yeah, I'm old).  The song was entitled The Night GG Allin Came to Town, I thought it was hilarous and that is when the obsession began.  Bulldozers and Dirt, Margo and Harold, Goddamn Lonely Love, Daddy's Cup, hell the list goes on and on.  There really isn't anything that I don't like that the band hasn't released yet.  I have not listened to the last two albums or so, but I am sure that they are pretty sweet nonetheless.

I also wish Harmonix would put out some more tracks by this band.  I'll take anything at this point.  Though Uncle Frank and Where the Devil Don't Stay would be awesome.  Just saying.

I finally got to see DBT live this year up here in Seattle.  Great show!  The venue was The Showbox, which if you are a native (at least this one) you'd be less than happy about it.  The sound quality is rubbish inside the place, no matter where I was I could barely hear the vocals.  Well except for the front row.  I could hear great right there but it was for a different concert.

Television: Dexter

So I really like this show until Season 5.  I'm starting to feel that all television shows need to last only a few seasons and that is it.  Cartoons don't count for this rule.

I really don't like the Deb character that Jennifer Carpenter plays.  I'll be honest I would have been happy if she was killed in the first season.  I am usually not one to care about cursing but her character is the most unattractive person alive when she swears.  Ugh.

A lot of characters I don't personally care for on this show, except maybe the Masuka character, he seems the most real and natch' the most humorous.  I do like Dexter though I guess I would have tried to keep the show simple and have it revolve around Dexter and Dexter alone.

Life: Short Blurb #8.5

Happy Saturday to everybody out there.  Going to have a relaxing day with some cleaning of the kitchen and some playing of the Rock Band on the box.  Maybe if I am inspired today I'm do some spot cleaning some stains on the carpet and some packing of boxes.  This day might be as relaxing as I once thought... Hmm.

Just on a crazy side note I think I need to go to the movies.  Been about a month.  And there are a few out there that I want to see.  Hmm.  Now an idea occurs to me.  So on Friday I'll post about the new movies that are coming out to the theater that I think I'd like to check out.

See you in a bit.

Life: A Screaming Good Time

Just got back from the Scrap Yard Massacre in Belfair.  Actually was scared a few times this year.  A little sad to see that a few things that were there in 2009 were not there.  But the spinning tunnel is always a great illusion and this year was no exception.  Actors were fresh since we were about the sixth group of seven in.  Good show this year and very mature (at least for us since we were all adults) but lots of screams and good times.

Went to grab some grub afterwards and chat with friends and some new peeps and we were even home early.  Not too shabby.

Tomorrow will be cleaning and some rocking on Rock Band.  And some writing to submit to Weird Tales.  You never know.

Yelp's reviews on the Scrap Yard Massacre in Belfair for those that are interested.

See you tomorrow.  Ground Control in three... two... one.

From the Internet and An Idea From the Darkness of my Mind

SF Gate piece on Weird Tales.

I am very glad to see that the publication is still running after so many decades.  Maybe I should take a stab (pun intended) and send them a short story.  Hmm, food for thought.  Indeed.

Maybe a modern day take with a Lovecraft spin?  Or even a comedic take on the vampire myth?  I wonder if that would fly?

I think I figured out my weekend project!  Sweet!

Halloween Ramblings: Part Three

Less than two weeks until Halloween.  Very exciting.  Should be hitting up the one of the haunted houses in our area.  We went to it last year or maybe it was the year before.  It was a blast.  I think I've actually posted it here on this blog earlier in the year (look to the October 1st post).  I thought about it again today and was wondering if they change it up each year or keep it the same?  I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Do you, Dear Readers, have any favorite memories of haunted houses?  Ever worked in a haunted house?  I've had a few friends that have.  Maybe they could throw their two cents into the mix.  You know who you are.  I have had the pleasure of working in a Halloween store seasonally a few years back and loved it, for about a month is was Halloween all the time.  I still remember the smell of the latex masks would stick to my hands after work.  Good times and I worked with a ton of my friends so it was much fun.  Ah, to be young again.

Television: Frasier

So I am now about halfway through the entire show and I must say that the humor it superb and the dialogue is very witty.  Also the show being placed in Seattle helps, though to destroy the suspension of disbelief for those that don't know there has only been one episode where they are actually in Seattle proper, and there are really no high rise condos that near to the space needle.  But all in all a great show.  I'm laughing at the show right now as I type this.  Good times.

Short Blurb #8

So I scored at my local comic shop the other day.  Was able to find two old single issues of The Books of Magic for Symphony and I scored Amazing X-Men 2 and 3 (from the AoA storyline from Marvel in the mid-90's) for a whooping twenty cents.  Twenty cents!  Let that sink in for a second.  That is less than I paid for Swamp Thing #24 (series 2) when I was about six or so.  Sweet.

I just finished the second to last issue of Uncanny X-Men.  It's becoming a little bitter-sweet to say the least.  It's not like I'm still not collecting back issues or anything and I am also beginning some of the DC's newest 52 (Swamp Thing and Justice League Dark as well as Marvel's Uncanny X-Force) so I still get to go and get my single issues and whatnot, but I've been steadily purchasing Uncanny X-Men since, geez, I am actually having to think how far back... Well, I actually had to look up the publication date online.  I've been collected Uncanny X-Men since Feb. 1989!  Holy shit!  Twenty-two years.  Wow.  I'm old.

And one that note cue the music!

Life: Short Blurb #7

Had a slight eye glasses emergency.  After I came home from a dandy new haircut I went to go and clean my glasses and my nose piece fell off.  My friend gave me a ride to the Mall and the Lenscrafters inside it.  Very professional and quick.  Not only did the fix the piece (and let me add that my eyeglasses prescription is about seven years old) but they replaced the other one and gave my glasses a cleaning.  It is crazy they are like new.  *Happy Dance*

Here's the monster I brought home to donate to the Locks of Love.  Can't wait to get this in the mail and make a kid out there very happy.  Woohoo! After almost three years the hair is gone!  My domo feels so light, I am worried it'll just snap off.

Video Games: Rock Band Tuesdays

Well not that excited about Coldplay, though I am sure that there are some peeps out there that are pretty stoked about it.  Not me.  If I recognize any of the songs and I like em' I will probably pick them up, but I will probably be looking on the RBN more than not.  But for those that are interested here's what is coming down the pipe tomorrow for Rock Band on the 360:

Coldplay    "Yellow" X
                  "The Scientist"
                  "Clocks" X
                  "Fix You"
                  "Viva la Vida"
                  "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall"

DVD Tuesdays

There are actually a few films I want to see that are coming out on DVD this week.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Hellraiser: Revelations
In a Glass Cage

Two horror films and one fantasy.  Not too shabby I must say.  I don't think that Hellraiser will be that great since Doug Bradley isn't attached to the picture.  In a Glass Cage I've heard is really intense and not to be viewed by people with a delicate constitution.  Pirates I am sure will be fun as all the others one have been.

Agree?  Something else coming out tomorrow that strikes your fancy?  Sound off!

Video Game Tuesdays

So there are only two things out this week that I am dying to play.  Batman: Arkham City and Rocksmith

IGN's page on Batman: Arkham City

IGN's page on Rocksmith

I loved the first Batman game on the 360.  Even Symphony would sit and watch me play.  This one I think will be even sweeter this time around.

I've blogged about how much I love Rock Band and I hope that Rock Band takes a page from Rocksmith and employs the USB to 1/4 guitar jack would be compatible with their PRO mode, but I can dream right?  It also has the Animal's House of the Rising Sun.  Yum.

Pics: Harborside

Gorgeous day today I must say!

Pics: Jewelry Box or Cigarette Holder

My mom gave this to me.  I love it.  I am not sure if it is actually from the 20's or a replica but I don't care.  Enjoy.

Movie Ticket Monday: South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut

It was July 2, 1999.  The theatre was the Modesto 18.  I think I went with a few people and I remember we were late to the show so it had already started.  I remember that the house was packed and we were stuck in the front row with our necks cranked in some unholy position.  Sometimes I can recall more about the shows I see but this one was fairly unmemorable.  Sorry, kiddies, maybe next week will be a better Movie Monday.

I'll give you a reason to come back to my blog today.  There will also be pictures!  Naked pictures!  Just kidding.

Music Monday: Iron Maiden

I first found out about Iron Maiden when I was very young.  I found a cassette of Live After Death in my local grocery store.  Back then I would buy albums based on the covers and Live After Death was one of the coolest.  That started my heavy metal obsession.  So here were are, almost thirty years later.  I've seen Maiden twice in concert.  The first concert was was No Prayer for the Dying Tour and honestly I don't remember what the other concert was but it was pretty fucking awesome nonetheless.  I remember when I was young I wanted to be a singer like Bruce Dickenson with long socks and all.  Good stuff.

Do you have a favorite Iron Maiden album?  Did you see them in concert?  If so, where?  Please share in the comment section below.

Life: Short Blurb #6

So today was a pretty good day minus my back being totally destroyed.  I don't know if I slept on it wrong or what but, damn, it sucks.

Got to go into the city today and found some books for Symphony.  She made off like a bandit today.  I was also able to find some Lovecraft books so that was a score for me.

Also had some yummy Darte Coffee and a Lox bagel.  Tonight I'm chilling at home watching Netflix and I have a belly full of food.  Heating pad on my back and some Alleve in my brain.  Sweet.

I'll blog more tomorrow.  Sour out.

Life: Butters, We Love You

I was going to post a blog about Butters, but I think Symphony said it best, so I will direct you to her blog:

Symph's Blog

I love and miss you Butters.  Every time I look at Miracle I see you.  I am glad you are not in pain anymore.

Film: My Top Three Comedy Films of all Time.

These are the most three comedies I love to watch.

3.  What About Bob - Bill Murray is great in this as well as Richard Dryfuss.  Classic comedy.  I could watch this every day.

 What About Bob Trailer

 2.  Planes, Trains, and Automobiles - John Candy and Steve Martin in the love-hate buddy film of all time.  I am starting to see the scary trend of bad late eighties/early nineties films.

 Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Trailer

 1.  Grandma's Boy - I love this film.  Video games and partying!  Ha!

Grandma's Boy Trailer

I also enjoy Galaxy Quest as well, it is right up there, so here's that trailer:

Galaxy Quest Trailer

Like them?  Hate them?  Have a favorite comedy film?  Sound off below.

Film: The Top Five Most Violent Serial Killer Films

So I thought that I'm still in the spirit of Halloween in my brain I figured I would post about serial killer films.

5. Psycho - Great horror film, but I did not personally like it.  Though the shower scene is classic.  I would rather watch The Birds any day of the week.
4. Silence of the Lambs - Wow.  A bit outdated now but Hopkins' performance was outstanding and it also created another boogeyman in the modern horror film era.
3. Saw - The first film was good, original, and something I liked.  The rest were just okay.  One of the later ones I enjoyed but that was only due to back story of the killer, Jigsaw.
2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Damn!  The original was classic and terrifying.  It doesn't get much sicker than this, well except for the next film.
1. The Devil's Rejects.  Zombie's follow up to House of 1000 Corpses.  This film starts up and doesn't stop, it's brutal, relentless, and bloody.  That is why I love this film and can watch it a ton of times.  Good stuff.

Agree with my list? Hate it?  Think you can do better?  Sound off!

Halloween Ramblings: Part Two

Halloween is getting closer and closer.  I am thinking about what to watch going into Halloween, horror movie style.  Think of this as the nineteen days of HellMass!

19.  Poltergeist
18.  Creepshow
17.  The Changeling
16.  Jaws
15.  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
14.  Nightmare on Elm Street
13.  Friday the 13th
12.  Swamp Thing
11.  Burnt Offerings
10.  The Thing (1982)
9.    Hellraiser
8.    The Howling
7.    Suspiria
6.    The Beyond
5.    Don't Torture a Duckling
4.    Black Christmas (1974)
3.    The Devil's Rejects
2.    House of 1000 Corpses
1.    The Nightmare Before Christmas

This is not an ordered list from best to worst or anything, just what I like.  It would be one hell of a movie marathon.  Good stuff that is.

Do you have a favorite horror film that you watch during Halloween?  Post in the comment section.

Life: I miss ice cream.

So I think I'm lactose intolerant.  So that means no more cheese, but more importantly, no more ice cream.  Damn it.  I'll never see this again.

I have found a soy milk substuate so that is cool, but alas, maybe I shed a few of the ice cream pounds hanging off my gut.  *Sad Face*

Life: Travelling, Part 2

So a few years ago I took another trip with my dad across the country.  Hitting most of the same places except our end destination was West Virginia instead of Pennsylvania.  I spent the next three months with my dad and my brother in various hotel rooms in the Southern US.  I did a lot of eating BBQ and playing my new Xbox 360.  Probably where I put in over 120+ hours on the game, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion,  a ton of content to be sure and that was before the DLC expansions.  Good times.

The plane ride was hell and when I got back to California after the three months my girlfriend, Mary, of a few years broke it off with me.  If she had told me over the phone while I was there I think I would have started working with my dad and brother, but she didn't, and I didn't, so there is that.

I didn't get to see a ton of the country this time since my dad and brother were working all the time, but that is the life of a miner.

Spent a mini-vacation with you relatives and not done too much?  Please, comment below!

I'll post another blog rant later today, I just have to figure out what that with be!  Stay tuned!

Life: Travelling

So I recently posted that I would like to travel to Japan and the Netherlands, Tokyo and Amsterdam respectively.  Today I thought I would talk about traveling in the US during my thirty plus years on this planet.  When I was fourteen me and my father took a road trip in a 1980 Pontaic Firebird Trans AM, the car was white w/ t-tops (that eventually would leak when it rained).  Lots of good memories with that car, where it is now I don't know.

The final destination (no film relation) was Broomall, Pennsylvania. where some long time "family" lived, you know the kind, people that aren't family but you've known them for so long that they might as well be.  We started in Tucson really early in the morning.  Went through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, then to Pennsylvania.  Also got to check out Washington, D.C., Delaware, and New Jersey.  That is a total of fourteen states, wow.

Some of the highlights were some car shows back East, visiting friends and family, Italian ice soda in Pennsylvania and the Jack Daniels distillery in Lynchburg, Tenn.  I also remember riding a BMX bike around Washington's Fort (I believe), and in retrospect I should have taken a better bike because the trek was six miles long.  I also remember the visit to an Amish Farm in rural Penn.  Good times with my dad.  Later today I will post about the second trip I took with my dad across the country just a few years ago.  Hope you enjoyed!

Do you have fond memories of road trips in your younger years?  Couldn't stand it?  Sound off!

Television: Ugly Americans

Wow.  Really great show.  Sick as hell!  It is pretty awesome that there really is no back story as to why monsters and humans are living together in New York.  But I really don't care.  This show is the bee's knees.  If you get a chance to see this on Netflix streaming you should do it.

Other sick cartoons of note:

Ren and Stimpy
Beavis and Butthead
Rocko's Modern Life
Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Animation Festival
SuperJail
... and basically anything on the Adult Swim line-up (cartoon-wise)

If you've never seen any of these bad boys you owe it to yourself to check them out!  Enjoy!

Television: Malcom in the Middle

Great show.  Just got on Netflix and we have been tearing through it.  I am so glad I don't have kids, they would totally turn out like those boys or worse a raving, serial killer.  I'll be a little sad when we get through this, but there is so much on our Queue I am not sure if we will every watch everything that is on there.  Some many shows, so little time!

Television: Law & Order: SVU

Sweet Jesus!  This show is brutal.  I feel horrible after every episode.  I like it (I think) but it is just hard to get through due to the content in the show.  I might like NCIS better.  No, I do like it better, but this show is (slowly) growing on me.

It is a great character driven show, much like NCIS.  Maybe I should be discussing NCIS!

Do you like Law & Order: SVU or Criminal Intent?  Hate it?  Love NCIS?  Hate it?  Please comment below!

Video Games Tuesdays

So this is the same deal as DVD Tuesdays.  New video games are released today (here in the States) and if there is anything that I'm dying to play I'll post about it.  If not, then I will post about games I already have or have played (anything from Atari 2600 to Xbox 360).  I usually grab my game release info here:

Gamespot

Let's see what is new this week:

Dead Rising 2:  The Arcade game was great and the first one was cool, but even though I want to play this I will probably be bored within two hours.  Sad.

Forza Motorsport 4: Love, love, loved the first one.  The second one is pretty good too.  I haven't played the third one yet, but the fourth one looks amazing, and the visuals are really tight.

DVD Tuesdays

So here's another "series" I am thinking about continuing every Tuesday.  I'll post about new DVD's I want or if there is nothing that I can see buying for myself or my wife I'll discuss one of the many DVD's that I currently own.

So I go here to see what is coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray:

The Digital Bits

Sad week indeed for me as the only film I want (to rent) is Green Lantern (the movie).  Not looking forward to anything else in the pipeline this week.

Another blog coming up in a bit, same vein as this one but about this week's video game releases.

See you in a bit!

Topic: Pet Peeves

I have more than just this one, but this is my #1 Pet Peeve.

Restroom Interruption.  Yeah, I hate being interrupted while I'm in the restroom.  It's like the only safe haven in the storm of life.  I also get a bit of reading done in there.  So sue me.  I am glad that the cat boxes are not in the bathroom anymore.

#1 Pet Peeve out there, Dear Readers?  Sound off below!

Video Games: Rock Band Tuesdays

So as most Rock Band aficionado's know Tuesday is the Xbox 360 release for DLC.  I thought I would put my two cents in as to what this week's (and subsequent) future weeks releases are and what I think of the band/songs.

10/11/11 - Xbox 360 releases

Rock the Casbah - The Clash X

Great tune.  Overplayed though.  Looking forward to playing this later today with some other of the 15+ Clash songs that I own.  Sweet.

Blink-182 - The Party Song
                Stay Together for the Kids
                Up All Night X

Not to familiar with Blink 182.  I am sure there is an audience for this band, but it's not me.  I wouldn't even call that music Punk Rock, but what the hell do I know, I am only a child of the 80's.

(X denotes Pro Upgrades)

Come back later where I talk about a pet peeve of mine.  Don't miss it!

Topic: Sexual Taboos

What are they?  Well a taboo is defined as: a custom prohibiting or restricting a particular practice or forbidding association with a particular person, place, or thing.  Wow, doesn't that just run the gamut.  There are tons of sexual "taboos" out in the world: BSDM, S&M, Golden Showers, Anal play, these are probably some of the most "vanilla" ones you have out there  Then there is scat play, torture, and genital scarification.  It still gets weirder than that, and I Dear Readers, don't judge on anyone's sexual proclivity, except sex involving children and animals, that SHOULD NEVER happen.  Period.

I wonder where most sexual taboos spring forth from?  General curiosity, maybe?  Deep seated fears?  I don't know and nor do I attempt to understand it.  Your sexual lives are your own and in much the same way that is how I feel about religion and politics.

Well there you have it.  Agree?  Hate it?  Think I'm crazy?  Comment below.

Topic: Politics and Religion or Don't Get Your Wires Crossed

What happened?  When did politics and religion go hand in hand?  Has it always been that way?  Is seems so much more lately during the walk to the 2012 election.  Christians based Mormons.  I wish that this county could elect an agnostic or a atheist to the Presidency, though I know that will never happen.  I thought political mudslinging was bad enough but now they have to jab at each other about religion.  One of the political runners I think said that Mormonism was a cult, but hey, let's be honest, ALL RELIGIONS ARE A CULT!  That is how every damn one of them started, and I'm sure that is how a lot of them ended.  Hammurabi's Law was harsh, but at least the Sumerians had over nineteen types of beer.

Agree?  Disagree?  Please comment below!

Topic: Places I would like to visit.

This question is easy for me.  Though much like my blog polls, two places take the top honor of where I would want to go first.  Amsterdam and Japan.

Amsterdam is located in The Netherlands, near Rotterdam.  Beautiful architecture, tons of museums that I would actually take my time in (sorry, Symph!) and the beer and food.  Yum.  It has been a dream of mine since I was fourteen.  The fact that my wife has been there makes me drool everytime she regals me with stories of her brief time there.  Though in her defense I don't think she got to enjoy Amsterdam the way she wanted to, but, what do I know...

Japan is another place I've always wanted to see.  I find the culture fascinating and it would be a real treat to go and get to see Japan.  From the landscape to the food to the people it's everything that I think I would dig.

Time to go and brush up on my Japanese and Dutch!  Well... a man can dream right!

Anywhere you would like to visit that you haven't been to?  Already been there and want to rub it in?  Sound off below!

Music Monday: Metallica

Since I started Movie Ticket Monday I thought I would start another Monday tradition here as well.  Music Monday!  It will be a blog post about bands that I like, or new bands I am getting into, or bands that surprisingly I don't care for anymore.  For the first Music Monday I thought I would go big or go home.

Band: Metallica
First Album I owned: Kill Em' All

The great thing about the first release of Metallica is that it is guttural, brutal, unpolished, and perfect.  With classics such as Seek and Destroy and The Four Horsemen who could turn away from this full out Metal assault.  I know I didn't.  Also, this album holds a special place in my heart since it was one of my first three compact discs I ever received (as a X-Mas present).  Don't worry Dear Readers, I will reveal the other two albums on the next two following Mondays.  Hope you enjoy this new blog "series".

First Metal album you owned?  Sound off!

Topic: TV Shows or How I Spent Ten Thousand Plus Hours

I've watched a lot of television in my life.  From all the hours of Saturday morning cartoons to Painting with Bob Ross on PBS to more cartoons during the high school years, WWE wrestling in the 90's to Netflix streaming of Malcom in the Middle (literally) right now.  I'm curious as to who I would be if I didn't grow up with television in my life.  I might have had more time to play music (actual play it) or to learn to draw.  Not that I'm saying I can't do these things now, I can, and maybe I should hit the ON/OFF button and do something today.  Hmm, let me think.  I guess I could finish my book that I'm reading or shave my face (not that will take me all day).  There is a library close by that I can hit up and see if there are any more books I need to read.

Instead of watching television what would you do with your free time?  Sound off in the comment section below.

Movie Ticket Monday: A Midsummer's Night's Dream (1999)

So I totally forgot to post this last week.  Here we go.

The earliest movie ticket I have in my collection dates back to May 20, 1999.  Location is Modesto Cinema in the downtown area.  The film was A Midsummer's Night's Dream.  It was mine and Elizabeth's first date movie and it landed on her birthday to boot.  I think I actually put on fancy pants clothing for the occasion.  I honestly don't remember to much of the film as I was more interested in cultivating my new relationship with Elizabeth.  I want to say that her friend Lisa and Robert were there too, but I could totally be wrong on that.

The theatre had literally finished being built about a week or so before they opened for this film.  I remember walking in there and over the speakers they were playing Rancid.  I was surprised to say the least.  Good day that turned into a four and a half year relationship.  Not too shabby.

Well, there you go kiddies.  Tune in next Monday when I blog about the next movie ticket in my collection.  I'll see you here later today for more blogging goodness.  Peace!

Topic: My Top Twenty Songs I want in Rock Band!

So I know I just post about my top five songs in Rock Band.  What can I say?  I'm a hardcore fan of the game.  Totally excited that The Clash is coming to the game on Tuesday.  Rock The Casbah.  Yes, please.  Symphony is just "ugh" with it since she thinks it is the most overplayed song by The Clash, and I agree with her.  Maybe the next one can be Straight to Hell w/ pro upgrades?  Please, Harmonix, and thank you.

Onto another twenty in no particular order:

1.   Sacrifice by Motorhead
2.   1000 Days in Sodom by Venom
3.    Bite It You Scum by GG Allin
4.    Say What You Mean by LUNACHICKS
5.    F'd Up Girl by Vandals
6.    Radioactive by Gene Simmons
7.    It's Grey by T.S.O.L.
8.    Life and Death of the Party by Alice Cooper
9.    Easy on Yourself by Drive-By Truckers
10.  Shortest Straw by Metallica
11.  I Got Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks
12. Hot for Teacher by Van Halen
13. Wrong by Depeche Mode
14. Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue

Life: Mornings, I Love You

I do.  It is generally quiet and I have a few hours to myself.  Usually some java and a cat nestled up near me.  It is a beautiful thing.  I get a couple of tv shows in before the house wakes up and a bit of time to read as well.  I'm also at my most humorous and I'm really alert when I first wake up.  I think if I ever did stand up comedy I would have to perform at nine in the morning, which probably on the comedy circuit wouldn't do.

I've also always been a morning person.  I don't think that will change anytime soon.  Now if I can just get in a workout routine that would be pretty sweet.  Man, I am horrible on working out, even when we lived near a tiny, tiny (free) gym I never worked out.  Maybe it is time to buy some free weights or the Wii Fit.  Morning Yoga.  Yummy.

Topic: Saturday Morning Cartoons

Man they used to be great.  USA Cartoons Express, Hanna-Barbera cartoons.  Man those were the days.  Sitting (probably) in my underwear and eating Pac-Man cereal.  Lots and lots of Pac-Man cereal.  Like four bowls of it.  Oh course, that was back when I could eat the folks out of house and home.  I think some of my favorite cartoons were Dungeons and Dragons, Tom & Jerry, and the old school Looney Tunes.  My favorite characters in Looney Tunes were Daffy Duck and Marvin the Martian.  Good stuff.

Topic: My Top Five Songs I want in Rock Band!

Top Twenty-Five Songs I want on Rock Band as DLC!

1.  Where the Devil Don't Stay by the Drive By Truckers
2.  Stay Hungry by Twisted Sister
3.  Welcome to Hell by Venom
4.  Straight to Hell by The Clash
5.  Celebrate by The Nephilim

Two out of the five bands are already in Rock Band so there's some hope.  Why Twisted Sister isn't in the game yet is totally beyond me but there really isn't a lot of Hair Metal in the game, so I guess it is really no surprise.  Maybe we'll see them soon.  The Nephilim (or more commonly known as Fields of the Nephilim) and Venom I doubt will ever see the light of day but I hope they are eventually introduced to the Rock Band library.

Anything you'd like to see in Rock Band.  Type in the comment section below.

Topic: Favorite H.P. Lovecraft story

I adore Lovecraft.  The Grandfather of Modern Horror in my opinion.  If you'd like to know more about H.P. Lovecraft please check out Wikipedia's page on the HPL here.

So my favorite story is a short one.  It's called The Festival.  I've read this story out loud to people over the years and the story is just a great, great read.  And if you don't like to read long stories it's only about ten pages long so your voice doesn't get hoarse and your eyes won't bleed.  That is like a win-win right there.  I would say so, indeed.

What is your favorite H.P. Lovecraft story?  Sound off Dear Readers!

Blog Poll Results are in! Tie! Again! Damnit!

What is it with all the ties in my polls?  Hum.  Bad political joke, but it is over now.  Onto the poll results:

I was baptized Christian when I was only a week old as my parents thought I was going to die since I was three months premature and very sick when I was born.  We never went to church growing up until later (that I remember).

Then I was baptized Mormon when I was either seven or eight (once again, I think) though after that we (as a family) for a few years.  I remember how the church smelled and it was always great when the communion came by I enjoyed the small square of bread and tiny cup of water that we got.  It was like the treat of treats or something.  In my junior year I went to Seminary which is like Catechism, i.e. bible study.  I still have my Mormon Bible which ironically was bound upside down... a precursor of things to come?

So where does the Satanism come in at?  I do a lot of research in occult subjects.  It all started when I was fourteen and found a mass market paperback of the Avon edition of the "Simon" Necronomicon.  I found it interesting and I been hooked on all things occult and supernatural.  Maybe one of these days I'll blog more about this if the public shows an interest.  Air of mystery and all that.  I will say this about "modern" Satanism, it's a very self-serving religion, which is in the same vein to me seems like the saying "looking out for #1".  Take that content!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall Who's the most Cannabalistic of Them All

From Zombies to Cannibals because that is how I roll.  Flesh eaters of a different sort but still just as deadly.  I will be honest I haven't seen a thousand and one cannibal films but in my quest for the most disturbing I've chosen three to talk a little about here and conveniently it's the three cannibal films I own in my collection.  This list is not in any order of preference.

1.  Cannibal Ferox
2.  Cannibal Apocalypse
3.  Cannibal Holocaust

The first and last films that I've listed are some of the most brutal cannibal films from that time yet Cannibal Apocalypse is a bit less on the graphic side.  If you can't watch violently gory films please do NOT view them.  You've been warned.

Do you dear readers have a favorite cannibal film or story.  Sound off in the comments below!

Life: Short Blurb #5

Had a nice dinner last night with Angel, Symph, MGX, and Brit at this fancy pants place called Burrata Bistro.  I had the beef rib with polenta. It was might tasty.  The winter is coming back with a vengence, it is beginning to look at lot like Innsmouth here.  Gurgle.  Blub.  Blub.  (That means Hello in Deep One, by the by)  The days of sunshine are gone.

Went across the water and found two (count em') new records (yes, records) of Spike Jones from an Antique Mall for Symphony.  Always glad to add more vinyl to the collection, amongst the tapes and discs as well.  Ain't technology grand?  Hmm.  Yes, it is.

So I totally spaced to post the first Movie Ticket Monday this last Monday, so I will start blogging about it on the 10th of October.  You've been warned.

Halloween is getting closer and closer.  Nice. Anyone out there dressing up?  I don't know if I will or not.  I guess it depends on what I do.  Maybe a zombie?  It would seem to probably be the easiest.  Maybe a trip to a costume shop is in order?  Yes, yes I think so.

They're Coming For you Sour, Look there's One of Them now!

Zombie dreams!  Man, those are fucked up!  There's always this creeping persistant dread every time I've had one, I guess as I should right?  Yeah.  Probably so.

Don't get me wrong I love zombie flicks.  The Beyond, Night of the Living Dead, The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue, Dawn of the Dead, even the recent crap-fest called Dance of the Dead.  Though I didn't like Uwe Boll's House of the Dead.  But really, who did?  Right?  Right.

But zombie flicks and zombie dreams are two totally different things.  The former is fun to watch with friend with popcorn and lots of screaming.  Zombie dreams are experiences in fear and survival.  Most of the time I am in a high rise apartment and the dead are all on the street so it's no big deal, though once, I was standing on top of a old muscle car surrounded by zombies and slicing off the top of their heads with shovels.  Intense to say the least.  I'm glad there is no real threat of a zombie apocalypse but just to be safe I've read this:

Zombie Survival Guide

Do you have any horrible zombie dreams that you'd like to get off your chest?  Favorite zombie film?  Sound off in the comments below!

Running With the Devil

Running with Angel in Seattle. Kicking near our old school stomping grounds in Mountlake. Glad to be out of the house for a bit.

Life: Short Blurb #4

Off to do some chores for the day and then it'll be shaving the face.  Don't worry, I'll post pics.  It'll be like a homage to this post on FB of Donny Messinger shaving his beard and hair.  But I won't shave my head, I'm old fashioned that way and wait for a haircut when there's some cash flow injected into the house.  See you in a bit.

Re: Download Broken Personality Ver. 2.0 ... 57 sec remaining

Have we lost touch in this nano-second demanding world?  Studies are showing that social media use also could lead to ADHD.  Awesome, one other thing to add to the growing list of problems in this society.  Hooray.

Have we forgotten that we are a global community? One that which has been slowly destroying itself for the past few hundred years.  Global warming, global starvation, epic homelessness, jeez, I'm depressing myself.

Let's look around.  Take a moment.  Realize you're in the here and now and do something great.  Leave your mark, paint, lecture, play music, be happy like I'm now trying to be.  I'll turn this blog around.  Damn it.

Well I guess I still feel better than Gilbert O' Sullivan when he wrote Alone Again (Naturally), and so should you.  See isn't that better.  I thought so.  See you tomorrow.

Topic: Favorite Food

When I was a kid my favorite food were oranges probably because I loved the color so much.  Then in my teen years (like most teens) it was pizza and right up there would be toast w/ peanut butter on it.  Yum.  Then in my twenties it was probably steak and potatoes and a big frothy beer.  Now I just like everything.  Well except my allergies that is.  I don't like those.  They kill me.

But really above all else my favorite food of all time is ice cream.  Yep, sweet, sweet ice cream.  The funny thing is is that I don't think I can eat it anymore.  *Sad Face*

What is everyone else favorite food?  Comment below!

Topic: Religion... as in Bad Religion

As in Bad Religion!  Great band.  I like them a lot.  Though I must admit I only have one cd of the band.  It's titled All Ages and it's punk at it most basic.  Not the best vocals but the lyric can't be beat and the band plays a good little ditty to pogo all over yourselves.  If you know what pogo is then good for you.  Then again you might be reading this in a crummy one bedroom apartment with no heat and your beer in a paper bag, of course that would mean you really are punk rock and probably in your late twenties.  Don't worry, you'll get it together soon enough.  Once you hit the dirty thirty every thing will click and lock down, well, at least gravity will begin its slow evil process.  Enjoy that brave readers...

Though I throw out another poll about which Religion dear readers you would like me to blog about!

Topic: Poll Results! or Doom Doom Doom

It's a tie!  The overwhelming vote of 2 results is a tie.  Politics and Sex.  So here we go...

So this year alone there have been a ton of political sex scandals in the media and to the best of my knowledge it's all been dudes.  Figures.  There was that men's bathroom incident in that one airport and that picture of that one guy's junk to somebody else and a few other things.  But let's be honest.  Do we really care?  I mean with all the other things going on in the world, like the failing economy, war, and global famine. Is it really any wonder that political sexual encounters get any exposure at all.  Everyone gets to have sex in their life (for the most part), yet some people (like politicians) are in the spot light and therefore scrutinized a little bit closer than the rest of the general public.   I mean let's face it we are all degenerates.  Don't think you're not a animal, because you are.

Imagine if there were thought police out there that monitored our thoughts.  Madness, yes.  But I imagine we'd be a much more prudish and reserved as a world culture, in regards to sex, politics, and possibly even more so in our religious reasoning that we already are.  Look out Universe!  Big brother is just a phone call away. Well maybe email now, but the Universe is still on Dial-Up.  Okay, I'll stop with the Orwellian Theories.  I am reading 1984.  So, sue me.

So what you're really wondering is what political organization do I follow and what kind of sex do I like?  Well to be honest, none of your damn business.  Rude.  Just kidding.  I'm a Lefty bread eater.  My sex is vanilla with a touch of the dip and dabble.

Tune in tomorrow when I talk about religion!

Sour out.

Video Games: Rock Band 3 or Do you Rock with Plastic Guitars?

I've done other posts about Rock Band (see earlier post on this blog).  Well this one is about Rock Band 3.  Great game.  There are some things that I love about it.  Better visuals.  The revamp song library screen with searchable tabs.  More DLC than you can shake a drum stick at!  At this point there are just over 3000 songs.  The list is located here:

Rock Band's growing list of music

There is also a great website that is not affiliated with Harmonix/Rock Band

DLCQuickplay sortable list of Rock Band music and more!

Also if you're curious about my personal profile on Rock Band, you can find it here:

Sourdaddyjones' Rock Band profile

I usually play guitar or bass.  I normally don't play vocals or drums online because I am still only in the Easy-Medium tier.  If anybody on XBOX LIVE wants to play, check out my dlc and send me a Game Invite with Rock Band in the header.  Hope to see you on LIVE!

30 days to the Devil's Holiday!

Yea!!! Just 30 days until the most evil, blasphemous, satanic holiday ever.  Er, I mean Halloween.  Good ol' trick n' treating.  Wearing costumes and scaring your friends half to death.  Good times. Some of my earliest Halloween costumes I remember wearing.  A ghost, a pirate, a zombie, and later GG Allin.  I remember getting the crap scared out of me at a haunted mansion in Tucson when I was a kid.  I hadn't been back to a haunted house until 2009.  It was really sweet and probably one of the scariest that I've ever been to.  Well that and it's only the second one I've ever been too.  Sweet.

So what do you you all have going on on Halloween?
