How High is the Ceiling (Shocking and Disturbing Cinema)

A question I like to ask new people I come to meet if they have seen the film Oldboy.  Some have, some haven't.  For those that have what did you think of it?  Sound off in the comments below if you'd be so kind.

Directed by Chan-wook Park (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK), IMDB gives the short synopsis, "After being kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years, Oh Dae-Su is released, only to find that he must find his captor in 5 days."

Okay, so it's a type of revenge flick.  But it's so much more than that too.  Insane adult themed issues.  Mutilation  of one's own body.  Taboo love.  I loved it the first time I saw it.  Visually brilliant and great dialogue.  Once it starts it never really lets up and that is a good thing!  Symphony got me the collector's tin for Christmas a few years ago, it comes with Book 1 of the Magna of the same name, a collectable film cell and two other DVD's with extras and special features.

Here's a shot of the Collector's tin!

Some of the Good Ones Out There.

I thought I would throw out some groups and what not that I dig online.

House of BLUZZ - A Facebook group that is easy going and super smooth.  I've met a ton of great RB players (with a large amount of DLC on the Xbox 360 and just a generally good community of folks!  Even though there is no more weekly RB DLC you can still get your Rock Band fix here!

Two Girls and a Console- A new website that rocks ya socks!  Lowieee and tracyramone give you all the gaming action among other things nerdom related.  Check the site and get badges!  Nice ladies, appeal to my achievement craving with that sweet little feature.  I love the site and you should to!  Get reading some online goodness right now!

Check back soon as I got some more sweet online action coming at you.  Stay tuned.

New Series: The Future is Here

I thought to myself, hey wouldn't it be cool if I blogged about science?  I am sure it would be or else I wouldn't have thought of it.  I liked the phrase "science fiction into science fact" quite a bit, it serves to show that we may be to big for our britches, and that the technology is surpassing it's creators in terms of how we interact with or change our daily lives with a "simple" invention.  Let's take the ISH (information super highway, Internet, Interwebz, or the "ultimate time waster" for instance.

"To me it's like magic." - Walter Jones

It's like the blending of the microcosm and macrocosm.  The Big Bang Theory of Cyberspace, I suppose. (Insert chuckle here) In all reality the internet has changed our lives in many, many ways.

"Where's the controller on this thing." Blup Blup. How does this work? Achievement Unlocked.
Does anyone remember these?

"Is this the game Grandpa keeps talking about, you know, Oregon Trail?"
Yeah I never used the BBS system, but I didn't get my first computer until 1999, and boy did I party with it.  Those were the days.  Listening (and not getting sued by Napster) to music, working on screenplays for my JC classes, and playing Redneck Rampage!  Get er' done!

"This hillbilly is made of oranges"
Boy the internet has coming along way since then.  Now we can do all our shopping for groceries, schedule every aspect of our lives, get diplomas, meet and date people, find all manner of things (some you don't want to find), like "Goatsy" or "Two Girls and a Cup" (NSFW: Those two quotes will bring up "over 21 explicit material that may not be appropriate for the young ones")

I wonder what the future will hold for the internet?  I'll be the first one to be excited about what is to come down the pipeline, you know, as long as its not intelligent machines a la the Terminator.

From Governor to Earth Overlord.
Hope you enjoyed it.  Up next on the series: Virtual Reality (Yummy) and how it's awesome!  Stay tuned.

Re: Life & Gaming

So I played on my Xbox 360 today, I haven't played since the 29 of December, that is almost five months now.  That length of time of non-gaming hasn't happened since 1997 (where were you back in 97'?).

Played some Rock Band 3 (of course!), three matches on Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008, and about ten seconds of Saints Row 2.  I don't have a gold account right now, so not only can I not play online multiplayer I can't even use the messaging service (or chat speak either, I think) so it kind has always irked me about the 360.  The Playstation 3 lets you play multiplayer for free, hell and if you get Playstation Plus you get a gaggle of free games every month (they rotate and I don't think you get to keep them), seems like a pretty good deal if you ask me, so what is the deal Microsoft?  I guess it won't matter here in another half a year when the next Xbox and the PS4 arrive on the scene.

I am just not sure if I am going for that ride one more time.  Gaming has emptied my pockets on more than one occasion and I really don't have the funds or disposable income to put into the hobby anymore, and frankly I would like to do other things, you know, like write stories, screenplays, and record podcasts.

Don't get me wrong I love gaming as I've done it all my life, and I am sure I will get back into it again, maybe when it's virtual reality a la' Ready Player One style or once it's like this:

Look into the future... and be afraid!  Blup Blup: It'll be Science-Fact soon. (Achievement Unlocked)

This Week in Rock (Games)

Well no news on any RBN tracks coming out for the Xbox 360, but Rocksmith revealed today what would be coming out soon.  Without further ado:

Maroon 5 Pack 5/14/13

"Misery"
"Harder to Breathe"
"She Will Be Loved"

I am not a fan of Maroon 5 so it would be a "meh" week for me.  I am sure some peeps are stoked that tracks are still coming out for rhythm games at all, I am one of those peeps, even though I don't own Rocksmith.

Hopefully here soon we'll have some RBN tracks hitting us up now that the Creators site is back up.  Still crossing fingers for Weird Al this year!
